We have done more than 50 migrations from various source systems and business of different sizes. On an average, we do 1-2 migrations every month.
We start with a scoping questionnaire, followed by a Statement of Work (SoW). Once the SoW is finalised which has Project phases, timelines and commercials, we start the project with a kick-off call. A project plan with milestones is presented in the kick-off call, communication channels and resources identified. We then move on to project phases. All our projects goes through Assessment, Design, Testing & pilot, Organizational wide migration and Transition .
Migration has always been considered as a complex thing and there is an assumption of lot of business disruptions and probably loss of data. There is not one thing which is most important. Our focus is on planning, testing and communication. We want to identify as many dependencies & risks we have before org wide migration and communicate to users and stakeholders. Other important factor is training the users about the change in platform.
We minimize the disruption to business by extensive planning, testing and automation. We plan the changes that can cause disruption in non-business hours to reduce the impact to business.
