M365 MIGRATION CONSULTANT/LEAD

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and client-focused Microsoft 365 Consultant/Lead to join our Managed Services team. In this role, you will take ownership of Microsoft 365 environments for multiple clients , delivering expert-level administration, migrations, and modernization projects across the M365 ecosystem. You will act as the primary technical authority for Exchange Online, Hybrid Exchange, Entra ID, SharePoint, Teams, and Microsoft security and compliance solutions while leading complex migration engagements from planning through successful cutover. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with consulting and client-facing experience, thrives in a multi-client MSP environment, and can independently drive outcomes, mentor junior engineers, and proactively identify opportunities to improve security, performance, and operational efficiency for client tenants.

Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end M365 migrations — on-prem Exchange to Exchange Online, tenant-to-tenant, hybrid coexistence setup and cutover
  • Administer Exchange Online, Exchange hybrid environments, mail flow, connectors, and messaging security (SPF/DKIM/DMARC)
  • Design and implement Conditional Access policies, MFA, and identity governance using Entra ID
  • Manage SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and M365 security and compliance (Purview, DLP, eDiscovery, retention)
  • Serve as technical escalation point for junior engineers on M365 issues
  • Lead client-facing calls, gather requirements, and translate them into technical solutions
  • Build and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation for managed clients
  • Proactively monitor client environments, identify risks, and drive resolution before incidents occur
  • Support license management, tenant health, and periodic reporting for managed accounts

Skills:

  • 5–7 years of hands-on M365 administration experience
  • Proven experience executing M365 migrations — on-prem Exchange to M365, cutover, staged, or tenant-to-tenant (not just supporting, must have led or owned a migration)
  • Exchange hybrid administration — connectors, coexistence, attribute sync, free/busy, hybrid mail flow troubleshooting
  • Exchange Online depth — EAC, PowerShell, transport rules, retention/MRM, compliance, anti-spam, message trace
  • Strong PowerShell scripting for M365 administration and reporting
  • Experience working in an MSP, consulting firm, or multi-client environment

Good to have:

  • Entra ID (Azure AD) — Conditional Access, MFA, Entra Connect, hybrid identity, SSPR
  • Microsoft Intune — device compliance policies, app deployment, MDM/MAM
  • Microsoft Purview — eDiscovery, DLP, insider risk, sensitivity labels
  • Microsoft Exchange On-prem experience
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
